Our Story And Background
Jigsaw Early Years Consultancy was founded eight years ago, born from a deep understanding of the pressures and challenges within the early years sector. Having worked in early years since 1985, I have seen first-hand the growing demands on nurseries and preschools. As a Group Manager overseeing six outstanding settings, compliance was central to my role, ensuring high standards while maintaining a strong focus on quality practice. My journey also led me to train as an Ofsted inspector, where I saw the immense pressures facing providers. It became clear that something needed to change.
I founded Jigsaw Early Years Consultancy to help reduce the burden on settings, giving leaders and practitioners more time to focus on what truly matters: supporting children’s learning and development. Over the past two years, we have been researching and working alongside settings to develop Impact Early Years, a platform designed by the sector for the sector. Officially launched in November 2024, it was built in collaboration with real early years providers, who acted as our ‘guinea pigs’ to ensure it genuinely meets the needs of the workforce.
Our goal is simple: to create a streamlined, supportive, and effective system that allows early years professionals to spend less time in the office and more time observing and enhancing practice with children. By embedding compliance, operational support, staffing solutions, and safeguarding guidance all in one place, we are committed to making a tangible difference, helping settings not just meet requirements but thrive every single day.

Anthony is the friendly voice at the end of the phone, always ready to help with queries, troubleshooting, or advice. Having worked in early years himself, he knows exactly how important it is to have reliable, knowledgeable support when you need it.
Vanessa – Founder and Director
Vanessa is the founder and director of both Impact Early Years and Jigsaw Early Years Consultancy. She is always coming up with new ideas to try and redefine the sector and support Early Years settings with compliance across the nation!
Lucy – Operations Manager
Lucy keeps everything running smoothly, ensuring that our platform and services meet the ever-changing needs of the early years sector. With a background in early years, she understands the daily challenges faced by settings and is passionate about making life easier for practitioners.
Stay Ofsted-Ready with Impact Early Years
At Impact Early Years, we’ve been using the RAG rating system for years within our consultancy and audit processes, ensuring early years settings remain compliant in safeguarding, staffing, and overall operational standards.
With the new Early Years Inspection Toolkit being introduced in September 2025, Ofsted will also implement RAG ratings within its inspection framework. This means settings will be assessed using a Red, Amber, and Green system to highlight strengths and areas requiring improvement.
